The role
The individual will work within the Quantitative Equities team in a number of areas with particular focus on analysis, research and development. The role will also form part of the ‘virtual’ Quantitative group within USSIM. This group will consist of the quantitative resources which are dispersed across the organisation, including in Private Markets, Investment & Strategy Advice, and Investment Risk. It will provide a forum for sharing knowledge and ideas and scope for cross function working.
 
Key responsibilities
Delivering Results 
Work on research projects to assess the viability of new tailored-beta and alpha-generating strategies and mandates
Build, improve and maintain systematic screening tools consistent with the qualitative investment processes deployed by the teams to improve their resource allocation
Conduct studies into additional factors which should be taken into consideration by the team in the portfolio construction process
Assist with the development and maintenance of tools used to improve the effectiveness of data analysis and decision making processes

Managing Resources 
Manage work through use of tools to deliver outcomes in line with agreed objectives
Maximise effectiveness of available tools and resources
Make most effective use of own available time
Ensure own professional expertise are current and up-to-date 
Attending relevant industry conferences and events

Managing Relationships 
Work collaboratively with individuals within the Equities department but also with different areas of the business

Your experience
Good experience working in a quantitative focused-role
Strong analytical skills
Good understanding of equity markets and drivers of equity returns
Experience of extracting and manipulating time series data
Previous experience in building quantitative screens and back-testing equity factors and quantitative strategies
Excellent Excel skills including the ability to create and troubleshoot VBA macros
Working knowledge of FactSet (in particular Universal Screening, Alpha Testing, Portfolio Simulation, Barra Portfolio Manager) and Bloomberg
Strong computer skills including the ability to program in R and R Shiny
Degree level education in a science, economics, or other numerate discipline preferred
