To support the Head of Operational as well as, where required, lead the assessment of operational due diligence assessments of external investment mandates in various asset classes including hedge funds, private equity, private credit, long-only and infrastructure investments as well as prospective and existing investment-related service providers. Assist in and/or lead the KYC/CDD (Know-your-client/Customer Due Diligence) on PMG transactions.
Assist and occasionally lead comprehensive operational due diligence of prospective and existing externally-managed investments including making on-site visits, interviewing managers and performing background checks as required.
Assess third party providers of services to the investment industry where required.
Review/Prepare operational risk reports for inclusion in submissions to investment committees (PMIC and StratCo).
Develop and maintain a good understanding of operational risk including operational failures, standards, the operational implications of new developments in alternative investments and compliance issues.
Be involved in the continual improvement / development of the operational due diligence process.
Assist with reporting on service provider performance / value-for-money to the Operations Committee.
Coach more junior team members.
Lead the development as required of operational due diligence criteria for particular specialist opportunities.
Support the ongoing development of USSIM’s service provider oversight framework.

• Qualified accountant or lawyer
• University graduate
• Success in a similar role, preferably involving risk analysis
• Experience in asset management and/or trading operations with a clear understanding of associated issues
• Experience within operational risk and/or audit as well as knowledge of investment structuring
• Familiarity with the regulatory environment
• Strong analytical skills
• Excellent written & spoken communication skills
• Empathic interviewing skills
• Ability to work within a small team and when required, independently and to produce a well-supported opinion.
• Ability to work to deadlines.
